The Miss Mahogany Scholarship Pageant & Foundation, Incorporated
Contestant Comments, Testimonies & Experiences
Goodmorning,
First, I'd like to send Mrs. Webb and all of the MMSF board members a special thank you for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful and positive organization. I have really enjoyed my 5-months of commitment to the foundation and will cherish the experience for a lifetime. I sincerely pray that everyone find strength and rest during this down-time after the pageant. It's such a relief to know that I won't have to wake up at 7a.m. this Saturday morning, but in the same sense, it's saddens me that I won't be able to spend my Saturday mornings with an outstanding group of talented, positive, educated, and motivated young women. I wish everyone the BEST that life has to offer them and ask that you continue to pray for me and my family. God bless each and every one of you all.
Hopefully your day is starting off exceptionally well! Thank-you so much for the opportunity to represent the Miss Mahogany Scholarship Foundation. I've really enjoyed the experiences I've gained from being a participant and truly look forward to carrying out the ideals of living a healthy lifestyle inside and outside. The Miss Mahogany Scholarship Foundation has truly been a blessing to my life and I'm greatly appreciative for the guidance and support from the organization. If there's anything that I'll remember from this experience, it will definitely be yourself and all the diligent work you've sacrificed to create such a wonderful organization. I pray God's blessing over you and that you continue to positively uplift and change the image of African-American women.

Hello-
I must echo the sentiments of Kelli. Not having to get up at 5:45am will DEFINITELY be a change, but a WELCOME one. (Smile)
I would also like to thank Mrs. Webb and the board members of the Miss Mahogany Scholarship Foundation for allowing me the opportunity to have this experience. The journey was long and, at times, challenging, but well worth it. The past 5 months are filled with memories I will cherish for a lifetime.
I look forward to keeping in touch with each and every one of you and I wish you all nothing but the best!!
Warmest Regards,
Tangala L. Hollis

Hello Ladies,
I just wanted to say it was nice meeting all of you. Ms. Webb thank you for this experience to participate in a pageant of color that hold true to the values of what makes up a strong African-American woman. Everyone, don't let this be the last time we all communicate and congregate with each other. Special congrats to Tangala you worked it girl. Also, Ebony and Ivy you all did marvelous. To the rest of us we all beat you all because we look the best...LOL! We had fun and I wish everyone much success for the future holds a lot of doors for all of us!
Sincerely, Ms. Athena Cosby (University of Memphis)
I want everyone to know that I enjoyed and learned so much from all of you ....I think all of you are strong, courageous, spectacular, one-in-a-million young ladies...You all are truly using your gifts and I know before it is all over with all of you will have made a difference in this cruel world and little by little change the standards and stereotypes of black women as a whole.. ..I do hope to see you all and I wish and pray nothing but the best and I doubted this whole "sisterhood idea" But I now know that it was possible and the Elegant Miss Mahogany 2007 Contestants made it possible, it is amazing that 10 very different and unique women can come together as ONE and do all the things we did ....I truly believe I have gained a lot of big sisters and I hope September 1, 2007 was not and will not be the last time I see and talk to you all...Mrs Webb I'm sure you already know but you have inspired and brought the hope back in so many lives and I was truly blessed to meet a beautiful role model like you....Love you all!!!~Miss Tyronecia (Germantown High School)
Hello Ladies, Tajuana here. I must say the kind words and out pours from the heart are making me feel so special and very sensitive. From Kelli, Tangala, Athena and Ty's messages I must reply. I definitely agree with you ladies. This has been an AWESOME experience. I cannot explain how happy I am to have met such wonderful young ladies. We all brought something totally different to the table and I think that this is what made it a wonderful experience. What we have is far beyond sisterhood. "WE ARE A FAMILY" and don't ever forget that. And if it had not been for this wonderful, fabulous, educated, hard working, confident, loving, caring, respectful, trustworthy Woman named Mrs. Webb none of this would have ever been possible. Oh don't let me forget SEEXXXXXYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL) Mrs. Webb I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You will never really know how much this opportunity meant to me. Through this pageant I have regained my confidence, self-esteem, and guess what? I can even have a conversation with a guy now. (LOL)
So, thank you ladies. All of you that stood by me, helped me through, encouraged me, talked to me and enjoyed my silliness; THANK YOU. I love you all and please let’s keep in touch and stay family. Sincerely, Tajuana Malone (Crichton College)

Hey Ms. Webb
I really don't know where to start because I am overwhelmed about the things that I want to say. First off, thank you for your help and I REALLY appreciate everything you've done. Thanks for your understanding and support. I can't explain my gratitude because your sincerity is priceless. When I first came into the pageant I was expecting to just acquire the skills needed, but what I left with, is so much more. I was honored to meet a lot of beautiful young ladies, but most of all make lot of friends. We were like family and you were like our mother away from home, pushing us to strive beyond our own expectations. I think the hardest thing for me was turning down my favorite foods, of which none are healthy and all are fried foods. Lol but it was worth it because though I wasn't able to participate, the healthy choices taught me discipline and commitment. Most importantly, the Miss Mahogany Scholarship Foundation taught me what it means to have elegance, character, and sisterhood. From the community service events, working hard at Saturday practices, to goofing around, I received something that I will always carry with me. You, Shami, and the girls became my second family so for that I will always treasure you in my heart. Thank you for the opportunity and it was my honor to be a part of such an elite group of women.
p.s I would like to be kept posted about the pageant next year because I would love to re try for a second time around!

Hello Ladies,
Today is a Great Day. I am so thankful for each of you. You all are a terrific group of women. I am so glad that I was blessed with the opportunity to be a contestant in this year’s pageant. You ALL are my sisters and sources of inspiration for me. I am forever grateful and thank each of you. You know, the LORD will give you just what you need when you need it the most. You all! Oh my God, was what I needed. In the mist of my storm, the GOOD LORD gave me peace and something to smile about. Ladies, I am a living testimony that the Lord will not put more on you than you can bear. Just remember he shall supply your every need. God is a good God and he does not make any mistakes. Beautiful Black Women, it was not by chance that each of us was selected to take on the 5-month challenge. There has been a bond established that’s untouchable. Ladies, I LOVE YOU… I LOVE YOU… I LOVE YOU… Thank you for being so sweet and encouraging. I adore each of you individually and collectively. I pray for each of you and we are our SISTER’S KEEPERS.
Mrs. Webb thanks again for everything that you did for us. You are a Superb Lady and a Devastating DIVA. It’s no secret that you are simply Fabulous. This pageant required determination and motivation. I can remember in 2006, I heard an advertisement on the radio in reference to the auditions but I didn't’t act on it. Afterwards, I regretted not auditioning. This year, I heard the advertisement and I acted on it right away. Now, I am so glad that I did. As a result of the preparation for the pageant, I had fun, I learned a lot and I was able to meet my personal weight loss goals. <HALLELUJAH> that’s a shout for me right there! Furthermore, on next year although I will be too old to compete again, I plan to volunteer my time and talent to further enhance the great work that the foundation is doing.
Mr. Ross I would like to thank you for sharing your talent and expertise with us. The dance routines were on point and I had a great time. Thanks Again- You're Awesome!
Thanks ladies for nominating me to be Miss Congeniality. You all are Sooooooo Sweet!
Ms. Latasha Mister (Crichton College)
Greetings Ladies,
I hope that my email finds you all in blessed spirits. I would like to start off by saying that the Miss Mahogany scholarship pageant has truly been an exceptional experience for me. An experience that I will remember for a lifetime and one that is full of personal growth, spiritual strength, and twelve remarkable women that I will cherish forever. Miss Webb, I would like to personally thank you for extending the opportunity to me to be a part of YOUR pageant. I remember that day at Red Lobster when you gave me your card and encouraged me to participate. That summer I was going through the most difficult time of my life, when I had almost LOST MY MIND and LOST MYSELF. Through that time I didn't even want to continue my education and I only had one year left to complete my degree. Moreover, I had forget my value and worth as a VIRTUOUS Woman of GOD. During that time of unbearable pain and severe depression, you saw something in me (my POTENTIAL), and that was the very thing that the devil was trying to steal from me. Last year, I couldn't see myself in a pageant because I had closed my eyes to my own beauty and potential. But GOD is so AWESOME that He kept me (and it was a sincere struggle). He not only allowed me to keep my mind, but He also Opened my eyes to who I am in HIM. "I am more than a conqueror. I am the head and not the tail, Above ONLY and never Beneath, & I come behind in no good thing. To GOD be all the glory and honor, for the excellent things he has done in my life. I want to sincerely thank you for all that you have done not just for me, but for all of the girls in the previous pageants and the future pageants to come. You are a wonderful gift and role model for all young ladies. I appreciate you giving your time, energy, and skill back in to the community and into the lives of many young ladies. I pray that God continues to bless the work of your hands and your foundation. I love you for you and being the remarkable woman that you are.
To all of MY eleven sisters,
First and foremost............... BE ENCOURAGED-*- BE ENCOURAGED-*- BE ENCOURAGED..
Remember that God has a unique plan and purpose for each and every one of your precious lives. And it’s entirely up to you to get with GOD and allow Him to meet you where you are, so that he can get you to YOUR UNIQUE DESTINY. Keep GOD at the top of your priority list and as the head of your life at all times. Because through GOD all things are possible to them that believe. No matter what you have done, or how many skeletons you have in your closet, GOD is faithful and just to forgive and regardless of what HE ALWAYS LOVES YOU....ALWAYS. You are all beautiful, intelligent, exceptional women. NEVER EVER FORGET that. Always Love and honor yourself, REspect YOurself. You can't love others before you love yourself. PLEASE remain HUMBLE at all times so that GOD CAN BLESS YOU. It has been my enjoyment to spend time and get to know you ladies. All of you all are so special and have such bright futures. If there is anything that I can ever do for any of you all, it would pleasure to be there for you. Whether it be a word of prayer, encouragement, support, a shoulder to cry on, a hair style
or whatever just let me know via email or 662-822-8120. I enjoyed growing with you all. And I love you all.
Congratulations to every one because we are all winners through Christ and we all learned how to be troopers.![]()
TO: Latasha Lidell Mister, you are truly a TROOPER and GOD has you covered under his wings. Your life is a light and you are the salt of the earth. I love you for the person you are and the spirit that you possess. You amaze me. GOD has something so special for you that you wont have room enough to receive it. Jeremiah 29:11 is our theme scripture. Stay strong and continue to hold on to GOD's unchanging hands. He has you..... He has you. He will be a friend to the friendless, a mother to the motherless, GOD is our all and all. When I had nowhere to run, and nobody to lean on.... GOD was there for me. When I almost lost my Mind and my life.... GOD was there. He is always there. Continue to trust in him because he won’t let you down. You have truly inspired me to be a better person and to walk closer with GOD. YOur bubbly personality, beautiful face, and mind of wisdom makes a person that we all can look up to. let me know if you need anything. And you will always be my Miss Mahogany Beauty because of your picture and because of the abundance of beauty that you have inside. And that’s true BEAUTY.
REMEMBER LADIES, ONLY WHAT YOU DO FOR CHRIST WILL LAST.....

Dear Miss Mahogany Scholarship Foundation, Inc:
The fruits of your wisdom, your determination and your expectation that your organization shares with young women of color, has truly been an inspiration and a guide for me and my college experience. I often here the echoes, “You can do it!” It has become my foundation for the goals I have set for myself and my career after college. May God grant you the Knowlege and Strength to continue your mission to identify, develop and promote leadership amongst young women who use their lives to promote social change.
